Tatsuro Taira earned the largest win of his profession to this point, defeating former 125-pound king Brandon Moreno at UFC 323.

Taira spent nearly all of the opening spherical locked right into a triangle choke after scoring an early takedown towards the previous flyweight champion. Moreno was in the end unable to pressure the tapout, sending us to the second spherical with the Mexican-born fighter up on the scorecards.

90 seconds into the second spherical, Taira landed one other takedown. This time, he landed in full mount earlier than transitioning to Moreno’s again.

As Moreno scrambled, Taira unleashed an onslaught of floor strikes, prompting referee Mark Smith to step in and cease the competition. Moreno instantly protested the stoppage, which the commentary staff deemed untimely.

Official Consequence: Tatsuro Taira def. Brandon Moreno by way of TKO (floor strikes) at 2:24 of Spherical 2.
