The Kayla Harrison celebration parade begins now.

On Saturday, Harrison gained the UFC girls’s bantamweight title with a second-round submission victory over Julianna Peña within the co-main occasion of UFC 316. The win is the end result of the two-time Olympic gold medalist’s MMA journey, and as such, Harrison obtained a hero’s welcome when she returned to her health club, American High Group, on Monday.

One of the profitable gyms within the sport, ATT is house to quite a lot of champions, and a who’s who of MMA luminaries greeted Harrison in her return, together with UFC flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja and former UFC interim light-weight champion Dustin Poirier. Now Florida based mostly group provides one other champion in Harrison — a two-time PFL champion as effectively — who was clearly ecstatic with the accomplishment.

“Sure, child!!! We did it!” Harrison stated as she went across the health club and hugged her teammates.

Harrison’s journey isn’t over but. The brand new girls’s bantamweight champion already has her first title struggle lined up, a battle with former American High Group teammate Amanda Nunes, who’s popping out of retirement to sq. off with Harrison in a long-awaited superfight.
