Paulo Costa was briefly on the radar of Reinier de Ridder for a struggle within the coming weeks till reported negotiation ways from the previous scrapped that potential struggle from being made.

This was mentioned throughout a latest interview that RDR did on MMA Junkie Radio forward of his new bout reserving for UFC Vancouver. The previous two-division ONE Championship titleholder was initially imagined to struggle Anthony ‘Fluffy’ Hernandez throughout this promotional foray into Canada. Alas, Hernandez needed to withdraw with an damage ,and now Brendan Allen will probably be on October 18th for UFC Battle Night time 262.

As talked about, although it wasn’t all the time Allen being focused, and when touching upon the discussions for a struggle with the previous UFC middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa, de Ridder stated,

“We tried Costa. Costa wished it on his personal phrases. I wished it to be a catchweight and solely three rounds, and that will have been wonderful for me to be trustworthy… However I feel in the event you get a shot like that to struggle for a fundamental occasion, get one other likelihood to come back up within the rankings, I feel you must simply shut up and say sure, not put your individual phrases in there. Catch, three rounds… take the struggle.”

Reinier de Ridder dropping ‘fluffy’ hernandez struggle “was an enormous letdown”

Reinier de Ridder’s earlier reserving in opposition to Anthony ‘Fluffy’ Hernandez for UFC Vancouver was a contest that many noticed as a potential title eliminator. However it looks as if those self same stakes are usually not connected to this amended reserving for RDR.

So in that sense, it’s comprehensible that he wouldn’t be fairly as eager on this new British Columbia-based struggle. Touching upon his high-stakes middleweight matchup with Hernandez falling out, de Ridder acknowledged [via MMA Junkie],

“It was an enormous letdown. It was a disgrace. He actually has a cool ability set, ‘Fluffy’ has, and he got here in with plenty of hype, so I used to be very unhappy he pulled out. And there have been a few days I didn’t count on anybody to step up in any respect to be trustworthy. No one wished to struggle. We tried Costa, however Costa wished on his personal phrases, in order that didn’t occur. I’m very, very grateful that Brendan took the decision.”
