Michigan State males’s basketball coach Tom Izzo broke Bob Knight’s Huge Ten document for wins, main the 11th-ranked Spartans to a 79-65 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday evening.
Maybe fittingly, Izzo’s first Huge Ten win got here again in January 1996 in opposition to Knight’s Indiana Hoosiers.
The three-time Huge Ten Coach of the Yr is now the energetic chief in Huge Ten Convention wins (354) and ranks eighth amongst energetic coaches in profession victories (727).

Izzo, who’s in his thirtieth 12 months as the pinnacle coach at Michigan State, has received 10 Huge Ten regular-season titles, six Huge Ten Match titles, has made eight Last Fours, and received one NCAA championship. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Corridor of Fame in 2016.
