The San Diego Padres’ decision to move Fernando Tatis Jr. to second base was so shocking that it sparked a wild thought from former MLB star Harold Reynolds.

On Tuesday, former two-time All-Star Harold Reynolds praised Tatis for being such a flexible and proficient weapon for the Padres. Reynolds even went so far as to name Tatis probably the most proficient participant at the moment not named Shohei Ohtani.

Tatis’ journey at second base started throughout final Saturday’s recreation in opposition to the Colorado Rockies at Petco Park in San Diego, California, a transfer initially believed to be geared toward getting Nick Castellanos’ bat into the lineup.

Reynolds, nevertheless, believes it goes a lot deeper than that.

“I believe it is a showcase due to the Padres’ payroll,”  Reynolds stated on the MLB Community.

“I do know they’re up there battling the Dodgers yearly. We are saying it time and again and over. I’m sorry. They’ve received to do one thing. They will’t carry this payroll. The Dodgers can’t. They will’t carry this. Anyone’s received to go. So who of these guys do I need? I need Fernando Tatis Jr.”
