Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been charged by the Soccer Affiliation following his pink card towards Bournemouth.
The centre-back was accused of “improper conduct” after allegedly directing abusive or insulting language in direction of fourth official Matt Donohue after being despatched off.
Maguire was dismissed within the second half by referee Stuart Attwell for a problem that led to a penalty, from which Junior Kroupi transformed to safe a 2-2 draw for the Cherries.
In an announcement, the FA confirmed: “Harry Maguire has been charged after being despatched off within the 78th minute of Man Utd’s Premier League match towards Bournemouth on March 20.
“It’s alleged that the defender acted in an improper method and/or abusive and/or insulting phrases and/or behaviour in direction of the fourth official following his dismissal. Harry Maguire has till April 2 to offer a response.”
The England worldwide will serve a one-match suspension for the pink card, ruling him out of United’s upcoming fixture towards Leeds.
There may be, nonetheless, potential defensive reinforcement on the horizon, with Lisandro Martinez closing in on a return from harm.
