While many NFL teams have bolstered their rosters through early free agency and the trade market, all 32 teams still have holes — of various sizes — as we approach the draft.

So, what is each team’s biggest need?

Let’s break that down for each NFC team — along with the ideal fit to fill each hole. (For the AFC teams, click here):

    NFC East

The Cowboys have prioritized adding veteran starters to what was a bad defense last season, trading for edge rusher Rashan Gary and signing safety Jalen Thompson in free agency. An experienced MIKE linebacker who’s comfortable with green dot responsibilities would further support first-time defensive coordinator Christian Parker.

Ideal fit: Titans LB Cody Barton (trade)

After ranking second-worst in run defense last season (145.3 rushing yards allowed/game), the Giants have a need on the defensive front. But solidifying the offensive line for second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart should be the biggest priority, and currently there’s a hole at right guard, where New York needs a starter.

Ideal fit: Georgia Tech G Keylan Rutledge (draft)

The Eagles picked up some depth in former Falcons defensive end Arnold Ebiketie, but more juice on the edge is needed following the free agency departure of Jaelan Phillips, whose 63 pressures last season ranked 11th in the NFL, per Next Gen Stats. Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith, the top two edge rushers on Philly’s depth chart, combined for just 9.5 sacks last season.

Ideal fit: Vikings DL Jonathan Greenard (trade)

With Terry McLaurin entering his age-31 season, Washington should be thinking about a long-term WR1. The team-high in receiving yards in 2025 was just 727 by Deebo Samuel. The Commanders re-signed former Titans first-round pick Treylon Burks and have Luke McCaffrey entering his third season, but they’re depth options.

Ideal fit: Ohio State WR Carnell Tate (draft)

    NFC North

The Bears want an edge reverse Montez Sweat, who had 10 sacks final season. No different edge defender on their roster had greater than 4 sacks in 2025. Chicago prioritized the inside line of defense in free company, signing tackles Neville Gallimore, Kentavius Street and James Lynch.

Ultimate match: Missouri EDGE Zion Young (draft)

The Lions have a void at left sort out after granting Taylor Decker’s request for a launch. Detroit added veteran offensive lineman Larry Borom in free company, however he’s on only a one-year deal.

Ultimate match: Alabama OT Kadyn Proctor (draft)

With Micah Parsons recovering from a torn ACL and Rashan Gary traded to the Cowboys, edge rusher ought to grow to be a spotlight for Inexperienced Bay. Exterior of Parsons, the Packers don’t have any returning gamers who had greater than 4 sacks final season.

Ultimate match: Michigan EDGE Derrick Moore (draft)

Franchise legend Harrison Smith might not return for a fifteenth season, and even when he does, the Vikings want a long-term beginning security. Minnesota has depth on the place (Joshua Metellus, Jay Ward, Theo Jackson) however not star energy. In free company, the Vikings prioritized elsewhere within the secondary, signing cornerback James Pierre.

Ultimate match: Oregon S Dillon Thieneman (draft)

    NFC South

Linebacker Kaden Elliss’ departure to the Saints in free company left a giant gap in the course of Atlanta’s protection. Free-agent signee Christian Harris might compete with a rookie draft choose for the beginning job alongside Divine Deablo.

Ultimate match: Texas LB Anthony Hill Jr. (draft)

The Panthers let beginning heart Cade Mays stroll in free company. Free-agent acquisition Luke Fortner is a possible veteran alternative, however he signed a modest one-year deal.

Ultimate match: Auburn C Connor Lew (draft)

The Saints are tremendous skinny at extensive receiver behind No. 1 choice Chris Olave. Aside from Olave, New Orleans didn’t have a receiver who ended 2025 on its roster attain 300 receiving yards.

Ultimate match: Ohio State WR Carnell Tate (draft)

In 2025, Chris Olave had his third 1,000-yard receiving season for the Saints and was named All-Professional for the primary time, however he cannot do all of it on the perimeter. (Picture by Derick Hingle/Icon Sportswire by way of Getty Photographs)

Lavonte David is undecided on returning for a fifteenth season, and former fourth-rounder SirVocea Dennis could also be finest suited in a backup function. Exterior free-agent acquisition Alex Anzalone, who’s projected to be a starter, Tampa has only one different inside linebacker below contract in Nick Jackson, an undrafted free agent final 12 months.

Ultimate match: Georgia LB C.J. Allen (draft)

    NFC West

The Cardinals want a strong-side protector on their offensive line, a participant who may very well be a long-term OT reverse Paris Johnson Jr. Ideally, free-agent acquisition Elijah Wilkinson turns into a high backup, versus being the starter at proper sort out.

Ultimate match: Miami OT Francis Mauigoa (draft)

The Rams stay all-in with NFL MVP Matthew Stafford, as evident by their strikes this offseason (buying and selling for All-Professional cornerback Trent McDuffie, signing CB Jaylen Watson in free company). They could have probably the most full roster in soccer, however with solely 2023 fourth-round choose Stetson Bennett (zero profession appearances) past Stafford on the QB depth chart, the backup spot must be shored up.

Jimmy Garoppolo, who performed for the Rams the previous two seasons and has 64 profession NFL begins, stays a free agent.

Ultimate match: Jimmy Garoppolo (free company)

The Niners have perennial Professional Bowl defensive finish Nick Bosa and 2025 first-round choose Mykel Williams on the sting, however each suffered torn ACLs final season. So San Francisco wants insurance coverage there, and this crew likes to stockpile defensive linemen.

Ultimate match: Clemson DE T.J. Parker (draft)

The Seahawks misplaced Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III in free company to the Chiefs, and RB2 Zach Charbonnet tore his ACL in January, placing his readiness for the early portion of 2026 unsure. Seattle signed former Packer Emanuel Wilson (125 carries, 496 yards, three TDs), nevertheless it’ll want extra out of the backfield to help Professional Bowl quarterback Sam Darnold.

Ultimate match: Notre Dame RB Jadarian Prince (draft)
