    A poor begin to the 2026 NASCAR  Cup Sequence season for Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman bought worse on Thursday with the news that Bowman will miss Sunday’s race at Phoenix Raceway with vertigo. 

    Bowman is final (thirty sixth) of full-time drivers within the Cup Sequence standings by way of three races this season and was unable to complete the March 1 race at Circuit of the Americas resulting from sickness, with Myatt Snider ending the race behind the wheel of the No. 48 Chevrolet.

    On Thursday, Hendrick Motorsports introduced that Bowman was identified with vertigo and that HMS sim/reserve driver Anthony Alfredo will fill in for Bowman at Phoenix on Sunday. 

    “Alex has labored very laborious over the past a number of days,” Hendrick Motorsports president Jeff Andrews mentioned in a team release. “We’re inspired by the progress he’s making, however we’ve to prioritize his well being above all else. It’s clearly irritating for him as a result of he’s a competitor and desires to be within the race automobile, particularly at his house observe. We’ll proceed to assist Alex and look ahead to his return as quickly as he’s medically cleared.”
