    Fireworks stop play – Ajax game called off after five minutes

    An enormous firework show within the stands triggered Ajax’s league sport towards Groningen to be referred to as off after simply 5 minutes.

    Followers behind the aim on the Johan Cruyff Area in Amsterdam ignited an enormous wall of fireworks and threw some onto the pitch, main referee Bas Nijhuis to take the gamers off.

    After a delay the gamers returned however extra fireworks have been thrown and the match was deserted.

    The match will now be performed on Tuesday afternoon.

    The match between Ajax and FC Groningen will resume on Tuesday at 14:30. The sport was deserted on Sunday night after repeated fireworks have been set off, with the rating at 0-0.

    In a submit on X, Ajax wrote: “Ajax finds it downright scandalous what occurred within the stadium tonight.

    “We provide our apologies to anybody who has been harmed by this in any means in anyway.

    “The protection of spectators and gamers has been put in peril. That’s unacceptable.”

    The postponement leaves Ajax and Groningen in sixth and eighth place respectively, with the 2 sides stage on 20 factors after 13 matches.
