Imagine being 22 years old, getting called up from the minors in September, and then breaking World Series records just a month later.

That’s what Trey Yesavage did in Game 5 against the Dodgers.

The Blue Jays rookie right-hander recorded 12 strikeouts over seven innings with no walks and just three hits allowed. His performance broke all sorts of records, which FOX Sports Research breaks down below.

    Let’s take a look:

22-Savage: A Historic Outing at a Young Age

    1. Yesavage’s 12 strikeouts are the most by a pitcher in a World Series game with no walks.

    2. Yesavage’s 12 strikeouts are the most ever by a rookie in a World Series game. Don Newcombe (1949) had the previous record for most strikeouts with 11.

    3. His 12 strikeouts are also tied for the fourth most by a rookie in any postseason game (Livan Hernandez 15, John Candelaria 14, Mike Boddicker 14 and Cam Schlittler 12).

ROOKIE MAKES WORLD SERIES HISTORY😤 Trey Yesavage on 12 strikeout performance vs. Dodgers in Game 5

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Trey Yesavage discussed his historic appearance against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 with Ken Rosenthal.

    4. Yesavage is the first pitcher in postseason history with multiple games with 10 or more strikeouts before turning 23 years old.

    5. Yesavage is the first rookie in postseason history with multiple games with 10 or more strikeouts.

    6. At 22 years and 93 days old, Trey Yesavage is the youngest pitcher with 10 or more strikeouts in a World Series game. He’s the third-youngest to do this in any postseason game, older than only John Candelaria (1975) and himself in Game 2 of the ALDS.

    7. Yesavage is the first pitcher in MLB history to record the first two 10-strikeout games of his career in the postseason.

    8. Yesavage is the first rookie in World Series history to strike out five consecutive hitters.

    9. Yesavage joins Sandy Koufax (1963) as the only pitchers to record 10 or more strikeouts in the first five innings of a World Series game. Koufax, ironically, was in attendance at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night.

    10. Yesavage joins Gerrit Cole as the only pitchers to record 10 or more strikeouts through five innings in multiple postseason games. He’s the first to do so twice in the same postseason.

    11. Yesavage recorded 23 swings and misses, which is the most by a pitcher in a World Series game since pitch tracking began (2008).

    12. Yesavage has 39 strikeouts this postseason. That’s the most by a rookie in a single postseason ever, passing Michael Wacha back in 2013.
