Giants RB Cam Skattebo Carted Off With Apparent Leg Injury vs. Eagles

Cam Skattebo’s promising rookie season might have come to a halt on Sunday.

The New York Giants rookie running back suffered an apparent lower leg injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles that required an air cast and for him to be carted off the field.

Skattebo’s injury occurred when Jaxson Dart threw a pass in his direction that was deflected and fell incomplete. As he jostled for position to make a catch, Skattebo landed on the ground awkwardly and was in immediate pain.

Giants players seemingly knew the severity of Skattebo’s injury immediately. The injury took “all the air out” of the Giants’ sideline, FOX Sports’ Tom Rinaldi reported. Dart was also disappointed with the injury.

“Jaxson Dart, who has such a tight bond [with Skattebo], was consoled by numerous completely different gamers,” Rinaldi mentioned on the printed. “Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston got here as much as him and you may see guys say, ‘I understand how shut you guys are, however now you’ve received to steer this offense.'”

Previous to the harm, Skattebo had rushed for 12 yards on three carries to go together with an 18-yard reception that went for a landing to tie the sport on the time. The Eagles held a 14-7 lead on the time of the harm.

Skattebo took over within the Giants’ backfield again in Week 2 and has thrived since then with 96 carries for 401 yards (4.2 yards per carry) and 5 dashing touchdowns. Within the passing sport, he has 21 receptions for 177 yards and one other landing earlier than Sunday’s sport.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. took Skattebo’s spot within the backfield following the harm.

This can be a growing story and can be up to date.
