Over the summer, Detroit’s Aidan Hutchinson opened as the favorite to be named DPOY, despite suffering a fractured tibia and fibula in Week 6 last season. Then, when Micah Parsons was traded to the Packers, he took over as the leader in the odds clubhouse.
But after a single week, there is a familiar name back in the mix, and that name is Myles Garrett.
Hutchinson tallied one quarterback hit in Detroit’s Week 1 loss to Green Bay. As for Parsons, he had one sack, one tackle for loss and one QB hit in GB’s Week 1 win over Detroit.
Then there was Garrett, who recorded 14 sacks last year, the second-most in the NFL. In Week 1 of this season, he was an absolute nightmare … for Cincinnati.
Garrett racked up two sacks, four tackles for loss and three QB hits in the Browns’ narrow loss to the Bengals. He also laid this hit on Bengals QB Joe Burrow:
