2025 CFP Championship Odds: No. 1 Texas Slides After Week 1 Defeat

Is there anything that screams “We’re so back” more than No. 3 Ohio State knocking off No. 1 Texas?

So, where do the Longhorns stand now?

Let’s take a look ahead at the national title odds for the 2025 College Football Playoff at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Aug. 30.

    CFP Championship Winner 2025-26

Ohio State: +600 (bet $10 to win $70 total)
Penn State: +650 (bet $10 to win $75 total)
Georgia: +700 (bet $10 to win $80 total)
Texas: +750 (bet $10 to win $85 total)
Alabama: +900 (bet $10 to win $100 total)
Clemson: +900 (bet $10 to win $100 total)
Notre Dame: +1000 (bet $10 to win $110 total)
LSU: +1400 (bet $10 to win $150 total)
Oregon: +1500 (bet $10 to win $160 total)
Michigan: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total)

Texas slid from +550 (tied with Ohio State at the top) to +750, now sitting fourth on the board after the loss.

Saturday also doubled as a showcase for two of college football’s most-hyped quarterbacks.

Arch Manning made his first real start for Texas, going 17-of-30 for 170 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

On the other side, Julian Sayin finished 13-of-20 for 126 yards and a touchdown for the Buckeyes.

There will also be some changes heading into the next College Football Playoff when it comes to seeding, potentially making the path smoother for some of those premier programs.

In late May, the CFP committee approved a proposal in which the four highest-ranked teams would earn the top four seeds and a first-round bye, removing the previous conference champion requirement. The top five ranked conference champions will still earn playoff spots.

Last season, the top four seeds — Oregon, Georgia, Boise State and Arizona State — all received a bye and then lost in their quarterfinal matchups. Had the new format been in place, No. 1 Oregon, No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Texas and No. 4 Penn State would have been the top four seeds and had byes.

Texas will try to become the 12th team to start and finish No. 1 since the AP preseason poll debuted in 1950. The last team to do it was Alabama in 2017.
