    Rookie pitcher’s emergence a promising sign for Yankees’ future

    Cam Schlittler continues being a ray of sunshine for the New York Yankees.

    The rookie starter threw one other gem on Monday in a 10-5 win over the Washington Nationals, giving the Yankees purpose for optimism amid an up-and-down 2025 season.

    Schlittler pitched six shutout innings towards the Nationals, hanging out eight batters and permitting 4 hits on 96 pitches (63 strikes).

    The No. 3 prospect within the Yankees farm system coming into 2025, Schlittler made his MLB debut on July 9. After posting a 4.91 earned run common (ERA) in
    three July begins, Schlittler has been significantly better in August.

    Following Monday’s win, Schlittler has a 1.65 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 27.2 innings this month. He is solely allowed one earned run and 7 hits over his final three begins (17.2 innings).

    Schlittler, who ranks within the ninety fifth percentile in MLB common fastball velocity (h/t Baseball Savant), did not waste time exhibiting off his spectacular warmth. The 2022 seventh-rounder struck out Nationals lead-off hitter James Wooden with a 101 mph four-seam fastball within the prime of the primary.
