Detroit Pistons large Isaiah Stewart was suspended for 2 video games and 4 different gamers from the Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves drew one-game suspensions for his or her roles in an on-court altercation between the teams earlier this week, the NBA mentioned Tuesday.

Stewart received two video games “based mostly partially on his repeated historical past of unsportsmanlike acts,” the league mentioned.

The NBA handed the one-game bans to Detroit’s Ron Holland II and Marcus Sasser together with Minnesota’s Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo. All 5 of these gamers have been ejected from Sunday’s recreation, as have been Detroit coach J.B. Bickerstaff and Minnesota assistant Pablo Prigioni.

“Clearly issues went too far,” Bickerstaff mentioned after that recreation. “However what you see is guys looking for each other, guys attempting to guard each other, guys attempting to have one another’s backs. … These are nonnegotiables in our locker room.”

The incident started when Holland fouled Reid with 8:36 left within the second quarter of the Timberwolves’ 123-104 victory over the Pistons in Minneapolis. Reid confronted Holland, who then pushed DiVincenzo, who then shoved Holland — they usually wound up falling into spectators seated alongside the baseline.

Stewart and Sasser then entered the altercation, “which resulted in a continued escalation of the scenario,” the league mentioned.

Reid and DiVincenzo will serve their one-game suspensions Tuesday when the Timberwolves go to Denver. Stewart will start serving his suspension Wednesday when the Pistons go to Oklahoma Metropolis, and Holland and Sasser additionally will serve their suspensions in that recreation.
