Joe Pyfer is a late withdrawal from UFC Mexico.

The UFC announced Saturday that Pyfer has been pressured out of his essential card bout with Kelvin Gastelum on account of sickness. Consequently, a flyweight bout between Edgar Chairez and CJ Vergara has been elevated from the preliminary portion of the lineup in line with UFC.com.

Pyfer and Gastelum had been each competing for the primary time in 2025 after rebounding from losses of their most up-to-date bouts this previous June. At UFC 303, Pyfer scored a first-round knockout of Marc-Andre Barriault, whereas received a call over Daniel Rodriguez at a Combat Evening in Saudi Arabia.

It’s not but recognized if the bout might be re-booked for a later occasion or if Pyfer and Gastelum might be given completely different assignments.

Pyfer later released a statement via Instagram Stories confirming the information.

“Simply wish to say my coronary heart is damaged I couldn’t struggle right now,” Pyfer wrote. “I obtained tremendous sick and hopefully we will reschedule this struggle for a number of weeks from now. Sadly comes with the territory of touring outdoors the states. By no means once more. My apologies guys. We’ll be again.”

UFC Mexico is headlined by a flyweight contenders’ bout between two-time champion Brandon Moreno and up to date title challenger Steve Erceg. The occasion proceeds with 12 bouts.
