Illinois ahead Morez Johnson Jr. is out indefinitely after breaking his wrist whereas making a spectacular block over the weekend.
Coach Brad Underwood introduced the severity of Johnson’s damage on Monday. Underwood stated the damage occurred when Johnson fell to the ground after blocking a shot throughout Illinois’ 79-65 loss to No. 14 Michigan State on Saturday.
The damage means Johnson will not be out there Tuesday when Illinois (17-9, 9-7 Big Ten) visits No. 11 Wisconsin (20-5, 10-4).
“I really feel horrible for that younger man,” Underwood instructed reporters. “What an unbelievable play. It is among the finest I’ve seen in a very long time. Sadly, that damage occurred.”
Underwood stated Johnson’s potential return date is unsure.
“He fell, he hit the ground fairly laborious and was robust sufficient to bounce up and simply say, ‘Tape it,'” Underwood stated. “That impacted a few his shut misses on the rim as effectively late within the sport.
