One in all junior quarterback Arch Manning’s bodyguards is ready to return for the No. 5 Texas Longhorns of their season opener towards the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday (ABC, 3:30 p.m. ET).
On Thursday, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian confirmed junior left deal with Trevor Goosby is “good to go” for the matchup, regardless of lacking a lot of fall camp due to a bone bruise in his left knee. After struggling the damage on Aug. 18, Goosby initially aimed to return for Week 2 towards the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes (Sept. 12). Sophomore offensive lineman Andre Cojoe took snaps at LT whereas Goosby recovered.
Steve Sarkisian expands on Trevor Goosby’s standing
Sarkisian mentioned they elevated Goosby’s workload on Tuesday and Wednesday to organize him for the lean at Darrell Ok Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. After struggling no setbacks, the coach is assured he is able to roll.
“I feel he must play soccer,” Sarkisian mentioned (h/t CJ Vogel of OnTexasFootball). “…linemen actually are an important ones that they want that physicality.”
