Defense wins championships, and great defenders win awards.

Last year, a defensive back won NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the second time in 14 years.

Can Pat Surtain II repeat the feat?

Let’s take a look at the odds for Defensive Player of the Year at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Sept. 9.

2025-26 NFL Defensive Player of the Year

Micah Parsons, Packers: +600 (bet $10 to win $70 total)
Myles Garrett, Browns: +600 (bet $10 to win $70 total)
Aidan Hutchinson, Lions: +950 (bet $10 to win $105 total)
T.J. Watt, Steelers: +950 (bet $10 to win $105 total)
Nick Bosa, 49ers: +1000 (bet $10 to win $110 total)
Will Anderson Jr., Texans: +1000 (bet $10 to win $110 total)
Maxx Crosby, Raiders: +1500 (bet $10 to win $160 total)
Jared Verse, Rams: +1500 (bet $10 to win $160 total)

Hutchinson tallied one quarterback hit in Detroit’s Week 1 loss to Green Bay. As for Parsons, he had one sack, one tackle for loss and one QB hit in GB’s Week 1 win over Detroit.

Then there was Garrett, who recorded 14 sacks last year, the second-most in the NFL. In Week 1 of this season, he was an absolute nightmare … for Cincinnati.

Garrett racked up two sacks, four tackles for loss and three QB hits in the Browns’ narrow loss to the Bengals. He also laid this hit on Bengals QB Joe Burrow:
